The Meaning Behind the Messages
Beauty & Brains Tees has always been about more than what’s printed on a shirt. Each message comes from something I believe, something I’ve experienced, or something I want people to remember when they wear it.
These five designs represent the foundation of the brand. They speak to education, identity, confidence, self-worth, and legacy — all themes that continue to shape Beauty & Brains today.
Black Women Are the Most Educated
This was the first shirt I created, and in many ways, it became the beginning of Beauty & Brains Tees.
I wanted to highlight a positive statistic about Black women at a time when we are so often placed in boxes or described through negative labels. This message was my way of shifting that narrative and reminding us of our intelligence, ambition, and accomplishments.
For me, wearing this statement is about taking our power back and celebrating the parts of our story that deserve to be seen.
Know Your Worth
“Queen, Know Your Worth” is a reminder to recognize your value in every area of your life.
Whether it is at work, in relationships, in business, or in the decisions you make for yourself, knowing your worth means understanding what you bring to the table and refusing to shrink yourself or settle for less than you deserve.
It is a reminder to move through life with confidence, standards, and a strong sense of who you are.
My Ancestors
This message is deeply rooted in legacy, strength, and feeling coveredThere are times when life can make us feel like we are carrying everything on our own. “My Ancestors Are Standing Strong Behind Me” is a reminder that even in those moments, we come from people who endured, sacrificed, survived, and created a path for us to be here.
Even when we do not feel covered, this message reminds us that our ancestors have our back. We carry their strength, wisdom, and resilience with us as we continue moving forward.
Hella Bougie
“Hella Bougie” is about owning who you are without apologizing for it. And being a Bay Area native, I have to emphasize almost everything with hella — so this message naturally felt like me.
It is fun, confident, stylish, and unapologetic. It represents enjoying nice things, having standards, expressing yourself, and embracing the parts of your personality that make you feel good.
Being bougie does not have to mean pretending to be something you are not. It can simply mean knowing what you like and confidently owning it.
Melanin Is Beautiful
“Melanin Is Beautiful” is a reminder to embrace the beauty that already exists within us.
For me, this message is about pride, confidence, and celebrating the richness of our skin without needing outside validation. It is simple, but powerful — a statement of affirmation that says our melanin is something to honor, appreciate, and wear proudly.
